Great news for anglers heading to the Inside Passage! The Alaska Department of Fish and Game (ADF&G) has announced an official increase in King Salmon limits for all anglers in Southeast Alaska, effective August 1 through September 30, 2026.

ADF&G Emergency Order: Ketchikan Salmon Fishing Regulation Changes
Due to lower-than-anticipated harvest earlier in the season, the sport harvest target allows for expanded fishing opportunities throughout the late summer season.
Nonresident Anglers
Daily Bag & Possession Limit: 2 King Salmon (28 inches or greater in length).
Annual Limit: Increased to 4 King Salmon (up from 3) for the season.
Harvest Record: Immediately upon retaining a King Salmon, nonresident anglers must record the species, date, and location on the back of their sport fishing license or harvest record card.
Prior Catch: Any King Salmon harvested earlier in the season count toward the updated 4-fish annual limit.
Alaska Resident Anglers (State Waters)
Daily Bag & Possession Limit: 3 King Salmon (28 inches or greater in length).
Annual Limit: No annual limit for Alaska residents fishing within state waters.
Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ: 3–200 Nautical Miles)
When fishing in federal waters (EEZ), both resident and nonresident anglers must follow nonresident regulations: 2 fish daily bag limit / 4 fish annual limit.
Note: Special regional protection regulations for wild stocks in local areas (such as Seymour Canal and specific Ketchikan marine areas) remain in place as designated by ADF&G.
