Ketchikan Fishing Report April
The winter king salmon (Chinook) season in Ketchikan has stayed strong well into April, providing some of the most consistent action we’ve seen all year. While the “winter” label usually implies cold and slow, the bite at Clover Pass and Mountain Point has been anything but. We are seeing healthy fish in the 15–20 pound range holding steady at depths between 90 and 120 feet.
Current Regulations & Updates As of this month, the new ADFG sport fishing regulations for 2026 are officially in effect. For the Ketchikan area, the bag and possession limit for King Salmon is one fish (28 inches or greater). Please note that the resident two-rod allowance concluded at the end of March, so it’s back to one rod per person for the spring season.
Tactics that are Working Trolling remains the name of the game. We’ve had the best luck with:
Flashers: Green or Chartreuse glow flashers.
Lures: Small Silver Horde spoons and white hoochies.
Depth: Consistently hitting fish near the bait balls at 100 feet.

Staying current on these limit changes ensures a smooth day on the water. Check our Ketchikan Alaska Fishing Charter for 2025 availability. We specialize in Cruise Ship Fishing and provide these regular Ketchikan Fishing Reports to keep our guests informed. Join us on The 4 C’s and let’s go fishing!
