Meet Your Ketchikan Fishing Captain and Guide
Captain Cable Campbell
Campbell’s Fishing Charters is a locally owned and operated Ketchikan fishing charter run by Captain Cable (Clyde) Campbell, a lifelong resident of Ketchikan, Alaska, with five generations of his family having called Southeast Alaska home. When you grow up in Ketchikan, the outdoors isn’t just something you visit—it’s your playground.
Cable grew up on the water and began working as a deckhand at the age of 14, learning the charter fishing business firsthand alongside his father, a charter fisherman with more than 30 years of experience. By the age of 18, Cable had launched his own charter guiding operation, building a strong foundation in local waters, seamanship, and sport fishing.
After guiding for several years, Cable took a 22-year break from charter fishing to serve as an Alaska State Trooper. That career further strengthened his commitment to safety, professionalism, and responsibility on the water. Following retirement, he spent time commercial fishing and boating with family and friends, reconnecting with the lifestyle and traditions that shaped him.
Today, with more than 45 years of fishing experience in Southeast Alaska, Captain Cable has returned to guiding and operates Campbell’s Fishing Charters, providing guests with authentic Ketchikan fishing charters led by a true local captain.
Whether you’re stepping onto a fishing boat for the first time or you’re a seasoned angler, Captain Cable offers a hands-on, family-friendly fishing experience rooted in local tradition, safety, and a genuine love for the water.

The Boat – The 4 C’s
Our fishing vessel, the 4 C’s, is a 27-foot Sea Sport built for the coastal waters of Southeast Alaska. She provides a stable and comfortable platform for fishing the productive waters around Ketchikan.
In 2022 the boat was repowered with twin 250 hp Yamaha outboards, along with a 9.9 hp Yamaha trolling motor used for slow trolling when targeting salmon. This setup allows us to travel quickly to the fishing grounds while also maintaining precise boat control when working productive fishing areas.
Inside the enclosed cabin you’ll find a forward V-berth and onboard head, giving guests a comfortable place to warm up, relax, or take a break from the weather if needed.
The 4 C’s is equipped with a Furuno NavNet navigation system including radar, GPS, depth sounder, and fish finder, helping us safely navigate the waters around Ketchikan while locating fish effectively.
An extra-large back deck provides plenty of room for anglers to fish comfortably while battling salmon, halibut, lingcod, and other bottom fish common to Southeast Alaska.
Safety & Equipment
Your safety is always a top priority on every trip. The 4 C’s carries all required U.S. Coast Guard safety equipment, including life jackets for all passengers, marine radios, emergency signaling devices, and modern navigation electronics.
Quality fishing gear is provided for all guests, and proven techniques are used that work well in the waters around Ketchikan. Whether you are an experienced angler or fishing Alaska for the first time, you’ll have the equipment and guidance needed for a successful day on the water.
Local Knowledge of Ketchikan Waters
Fishing success in Southeast Alaska often comes down to understanding tides, seasonal fish movement, and the many productive fishing areas surrounding Ketchikan. After spending a lifetime on these waters, Captain Cable understands how to adjust locations and techniques to match the conditions each day.
From salmon trolling areas to rocky structure that holds lingcod and halibut, local knowledge plays a big role in putting guests on fish. Every trip aboard the 4 C’s is planned with the goal of giving anglers the best opportunity to experience the incredible fishing Ketchikan is known for.
