Ketchikan Fishing Report June 2026

Welcome to the Ketchikan fishing report June update. One of the most common questions we get from visitors is: “Can I really catch a big fish during my cruise ship stop?” The answer, as you can see from our featured photo, is a resounding yes.

June: The Month for “Chrome-Bright” Kings

June is the peak of the King Salmon (Chinook) run in Southeast Alaska. These fish are fresh from the open ocean, full of energy, and “chrome-bright.” For our guests coming off the ships, the 4 C’s is perfectly positioned to get you out to the fishing grounds quickly, maximizing your time on the water.

2026 Opening Dates & Area Limits

In this Ketchikan fishing report June update, we are tracking several key opening dates for retention:

  • Mountain Point: Retention opens June 8, 2026. This terminal area is a favorite for our short-duration charters due to its proximity to the cruise ship docks.

  • Regional District 1: The general area opens June 15, 2026.

The Limits:

  • For nonresident anglers, the standard bag limit is 1 King Salmon per day (28 inches or longer), with a seasonal annual limit.

Short Trip, Big Results

We specialize in coordinating with your cruise schedule. Whether you are in port for six hours or ten, we prioritize getting you into the action fast. Our local knowledge of the “inside” waters means less travel time and more time with lines in the water. June is a spectacular time to see the eagles, enjoy the scenery of the Tongass National Forest, and—if the timing is right—put a legendary Alaskan King in the cooler.

Staying current on these limit changes ensures a smooth day on the water. Check our Ketchikan Alaska Fishing Charter for 2025 availability. We specialize in Cruise Ship Fishing and provide these regular Ketchikan Fishing Reports to keep our guests informed. Join us on The 4 C’s and let’s go fishing!
