King Salmon Fishing in Ketchikan, Alaska – June 30, 2025 Report

King Salmon season is in full swing here in Ketchikan, Alaska, and despite the wet and rainy weather, fishing has remained productive heading into the end of June. Anglers aboard local charters like Campbell’s Fishing Charters have been consistently landing quality King Salmon, with some impressive fish coming over the rails in recent days. While the action isn’t quite nonstop, the bite has been steady enough to keep rods bent and coolers filling.

June has been defined by cooler-than-usual temperatures and near-constant rainfall—a reminder that Alaska’s beauty often comes wrapped in mist and drizzle. But for those who don’t mind getting a little wet, the payoff has been worth it. The Kings are here, and they’re hungry.

Most of the successful fishing has been happening in the waters just outside Ketchikan, including well-known spots like Mountain Point, Herring Cove, and the southern shoreline near Duke Island. Trolling with herring or hoochies behind flashers continues to be the top method, with fish being caught at a variety of depths depending on the tide and time of day.

In addition to King Salmon, a few Coho have started showing up earlier than expected, which is a promising sign for the weeks ahead. The mix of species and solid catch rates has kept both visitors and locals excited to be on the water.

If you’re planning a trip to Alaska or considering booking a last-minute charter, now is a great time to get out. The fishing is solid, the scenery is breathtaking, and the experience is unforgettable—even if you have to bring an extra rain jacket.
